Those Aren't Stars, Those Are Planets!

Planet alignment: what time is it, what does it look like and where to see the planetary parade tonight (msn.com)

When you looked up at the night sky this week did you see what appeared to be a line of stars? Well, if you did, those "stars" were actually five of the planets in our Solar System.

Rare Cosmic Event: Here's When And How You Can Watch The Unique Alignment Of These 5 Planets In India (jagran.com)

On Monday, March 27, 2023, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn appeared in the night sky in a very rare alignment. An alignment of this many planets does not happen very often so if you were one of ones who noticed this, consider yourself lucky. The last time something like this happened was in December of 2022. but with only four planets.

Oliver Povey with AS USA stated that the best way to view this rare occasion was to find a dark location with a clear view of the horizon and to observe the event during the pre-dawn or post-sunset hours.

It is no secret that I love the night sky and all things space, so I am very sad that I missed this. But summer is quickly approaching, which means so is star-gazing season. Keeping up with the meteor shower summer schedule and watching shooting stars on those nights is one of my favorite activities. I am looking forward to more night-sky beauties, just like this planetary alignment.
